Justin Chris Quarenberg was picked up while allegedly trying to pawn several pieces of assorted jewelry, Cedar City Police Detective Sgt. David Evans said.

Quarenberg was booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility on a no-bail hold for the outstanding warrants.

The 40-year-old, who has several prior convictions for felony and petty theft, told police he had inherited the jewelry. However, due to his previous criminal record, authorities aren’t so sure the story checks out, Evans said.

Cedar City Police are now asking for the public’s help in locating any residents who may have recently had jewelry stolen.

If anyone is missing jewelry from a recent theft, please contact Evans at 435-865-5131.

Evans has photos of the items authorities believe may have been stolen.
