Brian Head fire burn scar poses threat of flash flooding in monsoon season

CEDAR CITY – Monsoon season has officials a little more than concerned about travel to Brian Head as the scar left over from last year’s fire has increased the chance of severe flooding and landslides. Weather alerts issued: High wind warning and winter storm advisory

The National Weather Service issued two alerts Wednesday afternoon warning of high winds followed by a cold front that is expected to bring snow. Residents can expect winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts in excess of 60 mph, beginning as early as 9 p.m. Wednesday. The warning is in effect throughout the evening.
