Shane Egan, 26, was convicted on a third-degree felony for dealing harmful materials to a minor. He pleaded no contest to the charge.

Egan was originally sentenced to 0-5 years in the Utah State Prison, but that sentence was suspended in lieu of the other.

Following his arrest Aug. 14, 2017, Egan spent two days in the Iron County Correctional Facility before bailing out. He was given credit for this time. Under the sentence, Egan still has 178 days to serve.

Fifth District Judge Keith Barnes also ordered Egan to pay a fine of $9,543. He suspended $9,500 of that, leaving $43 for the defendant to pay.

Egan was placed on supervised probation for 36 months.

According to the charging documents filed in 5th District Court, Iron County Sheriff deputies investigated Egan after receiving reports he had sent nude pictures of his genitalia to a 15-year-old girl via a cell-phone app.

“Screen shots of the conversation between Shane and the victim were found and a picture of Shane’s penis was in the conversation,” the police report said.

Egan was interviewed and admitted to sending pornographic material to the victim.
