Black Mountain Fire grows to 5,000 acres

IRON COUNTY – A spark from a vehicle rollover Thursday afternoon is being blamed for causing a fire now estimated to have burned 5,000 acres, authorities said. A white 1998 Ford Explorer traveling north on state Route 130 at Milepost 33 overcorrected after drifting off the right shoulder into the dirt causing the vehicle to roll several times, authorities said. Fire crews respond to fire number 2 just hours after cleaning up the 1st one

CEDAR CITY – Fire crews were called out again Monday night just hours after putting out a fire at a local storage unit facility. This time for a brush fire that could have easily burned out of control, authorities said. Cedar City Fire Department was dispatched at 11:35 p.m. to a fire behind J R’s Truck Stop, located at 2635 Freeway Drive. The fire burned around 1.3 acres. Police investigating possible arson

CEDAR CITY – Authorities responded to a fire Wednesday afternoon they are now investigating for possible arson. Iron County Sheriff deputies along with fire fighters from the Bureau of Land Management and the Cedar City Fire Department responded to the scene at around 3 p.m. The fire, located in the area of 2500 W. 5500 North, had spread to about three-quarters of an acre.
